The Verification Process
(a necessary thing to keep us ... and you ... safe!)
Many membership based websites nowdays must confront the real and continual threat from marketing spammers. These are sometimes computer programs (and sometimes real people) whose sole purpose is to spread advertisements about their products. They do this by posting far and wide on every website imaginable, not caring if the site has anything to do with their demographic.
These products can include everything from furnace boilers, airplane tickets to ... well, less-than-nice items or services.
The programmers behind PottersWorld have installed a verification process to ensure that those members allowed to post here are actually interested in becoming true members, not spammers. Those of you familiar with HarryPotterFanFiction (HPFF) will know that this is the same process of membership validation they have.
Here's how it works:
1.
Email Verification: A newly registered member will receive an automatic email from PottersWorld. In that email, there is a link that the new member will need to click on. Once clicked, the first part of your validation process is over. You can now log onto PottersWorld.
2.
Test Posts: A newly registered member must then make 4 posts. This is the tough part -- those 4 posts will be
invisible to everyone (including you!) except for the staff. We have set up things here at PottersWorld so that you will make your 4 verification posts in the following places:
PottersWorld and Beyond in the Verification and Questions thread #1,
What is RPG? in the Verification and Questions thread #2,
Rules of the Forum in the Verification and Questions thread #3,
Enter Your Character in the Character Role Call thread #4.
This post is very important, as you will actually be registering your character and the "face" you will use (the image/model you will use in your signature).
Please take the time to read what is in these areas! Important information is within, containing our rules and regulations. To perform well and within the rules, you will need to know these things, and saying "I didn't know it" when you made a validation post will show us you are a potentially irresponsible member in need of monitoring.
3.
Post Review: The staff will then look over those 4 posts, making sure you aren't a spammer. PLEASE! In those posts, be polite. You can say as little as "Yes, I understand the rules and posts I have just read" or even "read and understood." By presenting normal posts like this, the staff can quickly verify them, and thus your account.
NOTE: These posts MUST FIRST BE VALIDATED (made visible) by the staff before you can go on. No matter how many times you post, your account will sit at New User and have invisible posts until the staff are able to make all of your posts visible. Please do not make more work for us -- make your 4 posts THEN STOP!4. AFTER your 4 first posts are VISIBLE, you can make another post at the following place:
Hogwarts Letters This will be your 5th post. If you have done things correctly, you should now see your user group change from "New User" to "11yr old".
5.
And You're Done!: Once those 5 posts have been verified by the staff...
congratulations! You are now a full-fledged member of PottersWorld and can proceed through the game. A small note: we will try to have staff on most of the time, but real life may call us away, so patience will be asked of you in waiting for your posts to get reviewed and made visible.
NOTE: Due to the overwhelming response and popularity of PottersWorld, it may take up to 24 hours before your posts are validated!!And keep your eyes open! New parts of the board can be revealed to you at any point, depending on what your character is doing, how many posts you make, etc. It's a good idea to occasionally hit that "refresh" button and take a look around. You'll be surprised at what you see!
By joining Potter's World you indicate that you have read and do agree to abide by these rules. Failure to do so may result in warnings, disciplinary action, or removal from the boards.
