I've registered but I can't post anything. Why is this?
When you register, you will received an automatic email from this site. It is VERY important that you click on the link in that email, then come back to the site and login. At the upper right section of the screen (below the larger header picture), you should see a row of selections (like View New Posts, My Assistant, etc.). The first words should read My Controls; if they do, you can now post. If it still reads Resend Validation, please click on this to resend the email message from us. Check your email again and follow the instructions as before.

I was sure I registered and sent back the email. Yet now my account doesn't seem to work. Why?
Did you register with a proper name (a first and last name)? Or did you use a one word penname? This is the most frequent reason why accounts are deleted without warning. Also, if you registered a canon surname (like Black, Weasley, Granger, etc.) that is NOT approved from our canon name list, your account will also be deleted without notice. I've made my 5 posts and I still can't go anywhere/see my posts. Why?
After you've made those posts, you must be patient. A staff member must manually validate all of them. No matter how many posts you make, if your account is still in validation (meaning you still have invisible posts) it will not proceed to the next user group. If, and ONLY IF you believe you have all of your posts visible and it has been 2 days and you still don't seem to be in the next user group (Student), then PM a staff member.

I can't seem to upload my avatar. I keep getting a message to contact the staff. What's wrong?
Nothing is wrong. PottersWorld settings require you to host your avatar just like you do with your signature picture. You should load the link to your image in the box next to Enter a URL to an online avatar image.
Be aware, however, that the box for entering links has a size limit -- your image won't load if the link/URL address is too long. If this is the case, you may need to host your image at a site like TinyPic that tradionally has shorter link URLs.

How do I become a prefect/Head Boy/Head Girl?
Just like at Hogwarts (and perhaps even more so since there are so many students here), these are coveted spots. The staff of PW is constantly on the lookout for students who stand out, whether it's through a great knowledge of our rules, great RPing, and competency with our systems. Asking "will you make me a prefect?" won't do you good unless you have a great record to back you up. Lastly, you can't be a prefect if you have excessive disciplinary action against you.

What if I need to go away for a period of time and will not be able to access the internet?
This will depend on your character's involvement with others and with any intriguing adventures you've cooked up. It might be a nice idea to leave a notice for your friends so they don't get concerned when you aren't there, or if there are others depending on you to provide information, or something like that. To give them a head's up, please post here. If you are going away for more then 60 days, please contact a Governor to ensure that your account will not be deleted.
